Exchanging Memoirs
Exchanging Memoirs is a VR immersive art collection that showcases the founding and growth of Alliance Francaise De Penang. Digitally painted within virtual reality itself, these pieces aim to capture the cultural exchanges between locals and the French community within Penang, Malaysia. This project is created for the Alliance's anniversary and will also consist of an additional LIVE painting performance of scenes in Le Petit Prince while students read aloud chapters in French.
Room 1
Painted within TiltBrush, this room was inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Night to showcase the reimagined, current Alliance Francoise de Penang with a gallery inside.
Room 2
This room is also inspired by Van Gogh's bedroom in Arles. It showcases Malaysian elements to invite imagination to see how a cross-cultural exchange would occur.
Live Painting
Students in the Alliance read aloud chapters from LE PETIT PRINCE while the artist LIVE painted in real time.
Room 1: History of Alliance Francaise de Penang
This piece was inspired by STARRY NIGHT. Pictures throughout the Alliance's history were referenced and included in the final room to showcase its evolution in Penang.
Room 2: Van Gogh Room in Malaysia
This room reimagines how a Malaysian would've lived and added their own elements to their room in France.
Inspired by traditional art strokes and recreated in the VR space.
LIVE Painting: LE PETIT PRINCE
As the artist paints in VR, students read aloud Chapter 2, 6, 8 & 9 from LE PETIT PRINCE.

This project was commissioned by Alliance Francaise de Penang from Malaysia's French Alliance 60th Anniversary.
